Late Night Stroll in Venice
12 x 16 x 0.125 in., oil on linen hardboard
My family and I went on a 2-week vacation to Italy last June. We visited Rome, Pompeii, Florence, Pisa, Cinque Terre, Milan, Verona, and Venice. It was amazing.
This scene depicts Campo San Barnaba at dusk. The streets are so peaceful in this part of Venice at night. I love wandering the narrow, dark alleys, seeing the warm street lamps lighting the brightly-colored buildings, and the reflections of the lights in the canals.
While this is not one of the more famous squares, this scene strikes me as visually iconic of wandering around Venice at night. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it!
